If you keep making your decals in AutoCAD you'll be in fine shape. When saving the document make sure to save it as an actual vector file (.AI, Adobe PDF, etc.)- saving it as a JPEG will convert the file to a raster image and you'll lose all those vectors you worked so hard to make.

Quite often though when you print the PDF to a printer or plotter the text looks fine. When you zoom in on the text in the PDF some of the characters may appear jagged.
When I make decals I use Illustrator- I work from actual photos of the lettering/heralds then I scale it to the size I need. In AutoCADs output SHX fonts are always treated as graphics and at times even True Type fonts are treated as graphics. In vector format you can create the lettering at any size, then rescale it to the proper size (HO, N scale etc.) without any loss of fidelity. This means the shapes are not built out of small points, and can be scaled to any size without the loss of smooth edges or sharpness on shapes.
